The Sangamon County Historical Society has published 36 books, pamphlets and program booklets since 1965, on subjects ranging from Abraham Lincoln sculpture to the local chili culture to Springfield’s most powerful crime boss.
Most of the publications remain in print and are available through the historical society. Some also can be read online.
Do you all still have the index to the History of the early settlers of Sangamon County? I believe I saw an earlier post that mentioned the Genealogical Society had originally completed it for sale. Thanks!
Julie: There’s this index, from a 1904 publication that, I believe, isn’t fully online itself:

John Carroll Power’s “Early Settlers of Sangamon County” can be read in full here; I didn’t open the full PDF to check, but my recollection is that it also has an index.

Let me know if neither of these helps.
Thanks for reading.
